It is well said by Babar, the Emperor of Mughal Dynasty-“If there is any HEAVEN on earth, it is here, it is here in India .”
I strongly oppose this statement that our country India looks dirty. You all know that India is the fifth largest tourist attraction, well known for its natural beauty and historical places. It is this charm and grandeur that had ever attracted people from across the Himalayas , to come down to India . Here I would like to raise a question to my worthy opponent that –If India looks dirty, then why is she still being visited by at least 60,000 tourists per year?
From the snow-covered peaks of Himalayas to the sun soaked beaches of the south. The pleasant hill resorts like Shimla, Gulmarg etc. Ooti to the majestic Rajsthan, Agra with its wonder of wonders—The Taj Mahal, the temples of the South. These are the sights, which are so exotic, so attractive and so inviting.
My opponent may contradict me on this point that I am talking about past. But, I want to tell them that these monuments are still preserved, their vicinity is still neat and clean. Not only this, many cities of our country like Chandigarh , Bangalore etc, are famous for their cleanliness. It is all because of the people living there have civic sense.
India is a land of saints. Their teachings like that of Swami Vivekanand are still prevailing in the midst of our hearts.
The valley of flowers, the sky-high pines and Deodars, the variety of Landscapes, the beautiful Sun rises in Darjeeling , the vast water of Brahmaputra , the greenery and scenic beauty of Kerala. All these add to the beauty of our country. Then there is no point on saying that India looks dirty. We cannot judge our country's level of cleanliness by just taking examples of a few cities like Kanpur .
It is not easy for every country to gain such a prestigious position after only 57 years of independence. But, India did it. She has traveled along with time. Its development was a Herculean task. But, positive aspects are not to be ignored. Which my opponent…. I think you can understand.
India is also a prominent nominee for Security Council. What do you think a dirty country will hold such a prestigious position?
After all you are a better judge to decide whether India looks dirty or beautiful?
Thank You.
