"OUR COUNTRY INDIA LOOKS DIRTY"
[AGAINST]
ST JOSEPH'S CONVENT
PAYAL SINGH
Good morning respected judges, teachers and dear friends. Today I am going to speak against the motion-“Our India looks dirty”.
In my opinion, India does not look a dirty country at all. It is highly disrespectful to degrade our nation and tag it as a dirty country. Declaring India as an unclean nation will not only make us laughing stock in front of the world, but will also denounce the feeling of patriotism amongst the youth of nation.
Friends, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Thus, we cannot tag India as a dirty country just because a group of pessimistic idle sneers have said so. An optimistic person is that who says that the glass is half filled, and not that who says it is half empty. No nation in this world is complete in itself, as we say that nobody can be perfect. But do they also denounce and degrade themselves? Absolutely not.
Secondly, we often compare ourselves with the supreme powers of the world, and conclude that India looks dirty. But comparing India with the developed nations is illogical, owing to the fact that the population is less and technology is more advanced in those countries, hence enabling them to spend huge amounts for the perfect cleanliness of the nation. But in India , people are still struggling for the basic amenities, that is, food, clothing, and shelter. In spite of these obstacles, we have been successful in maintaining the natural and cultural beauty of India, such as the awesome mountains of Jammu and Kashmir, the splendid palaces of Rajasthan, the dense forests of North-East India, and the immense cultural variety of the South, hence attracting thousands of tourists to from all over the world, and thus, proving the fact that India is not an unclean nation.
Moreover, countries with which we compare ourselves are gifted with a temperate climate, which is very important for cleanliness. But in a hot and humid nation like India , preventing people from various diseases itself proves the fact that we are trying our level best to eliminate dirt and establish hygiene. Hence, we should be proud of the present state of India .
Thus, I strongly disapprove that out country India looks dirty.
Thank you.
