On August 10, 2005 Eco Friends held an inter-school debate competition on the topic "Our country India looks dirty"- agree/disagree? 24 schools with 48 speakers participated in the debate. Principal, Puranchandra Vidyaniketan, Mr. Bhaskar Ganti welcomed the participants and introduced the jury; Dr Ms Padma S Vankar of IIT, Ms Tanu Dang - Department of Journalism and Mass communication of CSJM university and Col IM Singh from the Army.
The debate was thought provoking and demanded urgent action from everyone concerned. Hon'ble Mayor of Kanpur , Mr Anil Sharma graced the function as the Chief Guest and urged the gathering to stop using polythene bags and contribute towards making Kanpur clean. He praised the students for the good quality of debate. Mr RK Jaiswal, Executive Secretary, Eco Friends enlightened the gathering about the Clean Kanpur Clean Ganga Clean India campaign.
Col IM Singh, a member of the Jury summed up the proceedings. Mayor Anil Sharma distributed the prizes. A vote of thanks was given by the Principal of Puranchandra Vidyaniketan.

2 nd Prize- won by Sagarika Bhattacharjee of St. Mary's Convent High School
3 rd Prize- shared by Ankur Verma of Seth Anandram Jaipuria School and Suravi Ganguli of Sir Padampat Singhania Education Centre

1 st prize- won by Ayushi Tewari of St. Mary's Convent High School
2 nd Prize- won by Shivani Mukherjee of Guru Nanak Modern School .
3 rd Prize- shared by Komal Agarwal of Seth Anandram Jaipuria School and Tanmay Vivek of Sir Padampat Singhania Education Centre
The Winners Trophy was shared by St. Mary's Convent High School and Puranchandra Vidyaniketan.
