An appeal to the President of India by the School Students for declaration of a Ganga Vision

His Excellency, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam,
President of India,
Rashtrapati Bhawan,
New Delhi-110001

Dear Sir,

We the undersigned students, as Ganga Ambassadors, would like to share with you our extreme concern at the sorry state of the river Ganga. The Ganga, the most valuable source of life for millions of people, is today facing the onslaught of pollution. Its sacred water is no longer fit for consumption. The river has been turned into a dumpyard for sewage and other industrial wastes. Besides, people also throw non-biodegradable polybags, worship materials and many toxic substances into the Ganga.

We appeal to you Sir to declare your vision of Ganga. We are confident that you shall be able to take time out of your busy schedule and direct the departments concerned to take immediate steps for Ganga depollution.

The Ganga is our most precious national heritage and we should save it from a slow death. Hope you will heed to our concern and help in revival of Ganga’s glorious past.

Thank you, very much for your kind attention.
