On the occasion of NCC Day, Eco Friends and NCC organized a massive rally against the indiscriminate use of polybags. The aim of the rally was to spread awareness in the masses to boycott the use of polybags and also to bring to the notice of the people that the littering of polybags had been declared a punishable offence by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

The rally started from Phoolbagh and passed through Bara Chauraha, Naveen Market, Parade and finally culminated at Green Park Stadium. 500 NCC cadets from 17 UP Girls BTN and 59 UP BTN Kanpur actively participated in the rally. The NCC cadets assembled at the Phoolbagh ground where Col. (Dr.) C N Reddy, Commandent, NCC group headquarter, Lt. Col. R Wadhawan, Lt. Col. G Gopa Kumar and Sri Rakesh Jaiswal of Eco Friends addressed them on the ill-effects of polybags and the role of NCC in taking the message far and wide in the society.

The rally was flagged off by Sri Rakesh Jaiswal. The cadets displayed placards and banners and raised slogans against polybags and distributed thousands of pamphlets to the citizens of Kanpur. Pamphlets carried the message about the ill effects of the polybags and the rules and regulations regarding the manufacture, use and littering of the polybags.
